RACE RULES

1. RACE ENTRY PRE-REQUISITE

To be able to participate in Preikestilen Trailrun, you have to be at least 15 years old. Your race entry is non-refundable.

2. RACE COURSE

The Preikestolen Trailrun athletes must follow the racecourse shown on the map. The athletes that do not follow the course will be disqualified. When in areas marked as “danger zones” Athletes shall not overtake other teams and shall also walk past tourists.

There will be several checkpoints throughout the course. See map for more information. Athletes failing to pass a checkpoint will be disqualified.

There is a mandatory 2-minute “timeout” at the Preikestolen Plateau for everyone. Here we will have a photographer taking your photo with the Lysefjord in the background. Failure to wait will result in a 15 minute penalty.

In case of extreme weather, such as high winds or poor visibility, or due to other unexpected situations, the race organization reserves the right to shorten or change the course or, in the worst case, cancel the race. This is for the protection of you and the marshalls.

 3. EQUIPMENT

All athletes must bring their equipment from start to finish. Athletes picking up or dropping off gear along the course will be disqualified unless designated pick-up and drop-off zones exist. Before the race, there will be spot checks of the mandatory kit check. Water bladder or something that can be filled from creeks is recommended, as water at aid stations along the course will be limited. Reusable cups that allow you to drink from the creeks are also useful.

The following equipment must be carried throughout the race:

- Supplied by athletes and presented at registration:

  • 1x First aid pressure bandage

  • 1x Whistle

- Supplied by Preikestolen Trailrun Team:

  • Race bib (to be handed back in after the race)

  • Refoldable cups to be used at our aid stations and at creeks along the course.

4. TIMING

We use an app-based timing service provided by RaceID.com. You start your race as soon as you leave the ferry, and your official time stops when you cross the finish line at Songesand. Your race bib must be visible so our marshalls can see your race number, which ensures the correct times are recorded. This is also important for the different checkpoints. We also use this app to track your progress, which is essential for safety reasons, plus ensuring marshalling is carried out correctly.

During the race, the athletes participate at their own risk and cannot hold the organization responsible for any accident. The athletes are obliged, to the best of their ability to help another athlete that has been injured or sick, it is not expected that full medical care shall be administered but please ensure the marshalls or organisers are informed, and injured parties are made as safe and comfortable as possible.
